This classic AIP Cranberry Sauce is an easy AIP thanksgiving side that can be made in advance. It’s the perfect balance of tart and sweet for your entire family.
What is cranberry sauce supposed to taste like?
It’s supposed to be tart but balanced with a bit of sweetness. Classic cranberry sauce may have a hint of citrus or orange. And you may find cinnamon or apple in others.
Is cranberry sauce warm or cold?
You can serve it warm or room temperature, but it’s usually served cold.
What goes well with cranberry?
Clearly any AIP thanksgiving recipe goes well with AIP Cranberry Sauce. But I like it with my Prosciutto Wrapped Stuff Pork with Brussel Sprouts. This makes a great substitute for a turkey for any holiday meal alongside some cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes.
How to make AIP Cranberry Sauce
1. Put all the ingredient into a saucepan over high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes which stirring occasionally.
2. Cool to room temperature. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
Tips for making the best AIP Cranberry Sauce
- Fresh or frozen cranberries works well.
- Let cool slightly before pouring into a glass storage container and let cool completely before putting it into the refrigerator. This will help prevent the glass from breaking.
- Serve warm or cold. Please note that traditionally cranberry sauce is served cold.
- This recipe can be made a day or two in advance.
- Can serve with additional orange zest as a garnish.
What else can you make ahead of time for an AIP Thanksgiving?

hi...do you just use the zest of the orange or also the juice? It isn't clear (one orange, zested). Would love to give this a try today.

This is the most delicious cranberry recipe I’ve ever tasted! And I can’t believe how easy it was to make it. I was worried about making AIP thanksgiving specials and this helped me a lot. I think I’ll keep making this sauce with my weekly Sunday roasts, I’m sure it’ll go great with it.
