Is garlic allowed on AIP diet?

Yes. Garlic is an allium which is the onion family. Alliums are allowed during the elimination stage of the autoimmune protocol.

    Are onions allowed on AIP?

Again, yes. Onions are an allium and allowed during the elimination stage of the autoimmune protocol. The onions (along with the ginger) in this recipe give it a lot of flavor.

Why are nightshades bad for autoimmune?

Nightshades like hot peppers are inflammatory so they are not allowed during the elimination stage of the protocol. [source] They are a stage 4 reintroduction.

However, if you are missing the heat of those peppers, then you’ll like this recipe. The ginger is almost spicy in this recipe.

Can you have soy sauce or sesame oil on AIP?

Soy sauce and sesame oil are go-tos in Asian food as it gives a lot of flavor. However, soy is a grain and sesame oil come from the seeds. Both of which are not allowed during the elimination stage of the protocol. [source]

This recipe cooks down the aromatics and broth to create the flavors for this dish. It really creates a unique Asian inspired flavor.

    • I always use extra virgin olive oil in all of my recipes unless stated otherwise.
    • I always use Himalayan sea salt or Celtic sea salt, unless otherwise noted.
    • The majority of my recipes are strict AIP or include notations for reintroductions. However while I make every effort to label non-AIP ingredients and recipes sometimes they slip past me. If you have questions, please ask in advance.
