This AIP Avocado Smoothie is a healthy green smoothie made with avocado but with a handful of mint thrown in for a slight kick. This recipe fits the Whole30, Vegan, Paleo and AIP diets.

Can I eat bananas on the AIP diet?

Yes! Bananas are AIP friendly during the elimination stage. However, they are full of sugar and we do want to limit our sugar intake. Bananas have about 14g of sugar and the daily limit of sugar is 20g. Keep that in mind if you want to eat nothing but fruit or bananas all day.

    Is Honey allowed on AIP?

Yes! Again. Not all sweeteners are removed from your diet during the elimination stage. In fact, there are quite a few options. If you’re not sure what to eat/what to avoid, feel free to download my What to Eat/Avoid PDF here. https://app.monstercampaigns.com/c/ts5y7majdawbafpovmrn/

Does avocado taste good in a smoothie?

Absolutely! Avocado has a very neutral flavor that can be made sweet or savory.

I love healthy smoothies but sometimes they can taste a little too ‘healthy.’ I want a smoothie that tastes good and is good for you. That’s the bar that I always set for smoothies. I won’t share one unless I can do both.

How to make AIP Avocado Smoothie

    1. Combine everything in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Tips for making the best AIP Avocado Smoothie

    • A little bit of honey would be great here. It’s not necessary but it does add a little bit of sweetness if you don’t get enough from the banana.
    • Between the avocado and banana, this is a filling drink.
    • You’re definitely going to need a high-speed blender for this smoothie otherwise you’ll be chewing on bits of mint. If you like eating mint whole, then you’re fine but otherwise get a Vitamix. This is similar to the one I used for this recipe.
    • The mint definitely adds a nice kick of freshness. If you want more mint, you can always add a little mint extract.
    • Make sure to use AIP compliant coconut milk. I used this brand. But please check ingredients before buying/using. Companies commonly change ingredients without notice.

    Helpful Info for All Recipes

    • I always use extra virgin olive oil in all of my recipes unless stated otherwise.
    • I always use Himalayan sea salt or Celtic sea salt, unless otherwise noted.
    • The majority of my recipes are strict AIP or include notations for reintroductions. However while I make every effort to label non-AIP ingredients and recipes sometimes they slip past me. If you have questions, please ask in advance.
