green smoothie in glass surrounded by avocados and green apples

It may seem a little strange to add an avocado and spinach to a drink but it’s actually really good. It’s balanced by the sweetness of the green apples and bananas. The avocado adds a creaminess that you normally get from heavy cream. It’s surprisingly good considering it’s totally sugar and dairy free.

How to Blend Spinach for Smoothie

The best way to ensure that your spinach get blended up is to put it in last so it’s on top of the other ingredients. If you put it in first so that it ends up on the bottom, it will get stuck under the blades.

Can you make green smoothies in a regular blender?

Yes but it may not get blended completely. If you make lots of smoothies then a high spend blender is essential. Here’s a link to the exact Vitamix blender I use and LOVE.

How to Make the Best Spinach and Apple Smoothie

Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Taking care to make sure that the spinach is on top.

Blend until smooth. You may need to use a long spoon to mix up the contents to ensure that the smoothie is actually smooth.

Serve immediately and an apple slice as a garnish.

Tips for Making the Best Spinach and Apple Smoothie

    • Please note that while this smoothie is sugar free please note that it does contain a significant amount of sugar from the fruit.
    • Make sure to add the spinach last so that it’s easier to blend.
    • Using a high-speed blender will make it easier to get a smooth consistency. Click here for the exact Vitamix I use and high recommend.

    Helpful Info for All Recipes

    • I always use extra virgin olive oil in all of my recipes unless stated otherwise.
    • I always use Himalayan sea salt or Celtic sea salt, unless otherwise noted.
    • The majority of my recipes are strict AIP or include notations for reintroductions. However while I make every effort to label non-AIP ingredients and recipes sometimes they slip past me. If you have questions, please ask in advance.
